STORYLINE
The story takes place in Neo-Berlin, 2079. A dark, rain-soaked city held by mega corporations where the only enjoyment in life is connecting to cyberspace and taking “Binary Trip” a cyber drug that fries your neurons but promises a feeling better than a hundred orgasms at once. In this setting, a team of crack cyberspace detectives are investigating a new menace: an army of cyber octopuses that are terrorizing the city.

THE INFLUENCES
The director Nicola describes the project:
"The film is inspired by William Gibson's cyberpunk landmark Neuromancer as well as some of the most awesome sci-fi products of the 80s era, like Blade Runner, Terminator, Escape from New York, Aliens, Akira and many more. "In the last few years there have been some other 80s style projects, but what sets "Attack Of The Cyber Octopuses" apart, is that we are not aiming to make a cheesy movie. Instead it will be made very seriously. However, it will likely have some involuntary funny moments". The aim of “Attack of the Cyber Octopuses” is to re-create the look and feel of an eighties sci-fi classic, without using CGI. Therefore it will be shot in real locations and use various miniature models and handmade props.

MUSIC SCORE
The original soundtrack is composed by Andrea Ragusa, a member of the band Mothell, and it’s almost entirely made with analog synthetizers. At the moment two tracks are ready, the synth-wave one you hear in the teaser, and “Join the Cyber Octopus”, a truly post-punk track, recalling Billy Idol and Joy Division. All together there will be 8 tracks, available for the backers on a vintage audiocassette (as well as in high quality mp3 files)!
Jonas:
"When my dear friend and prop maker Gustav Ljungdahl sent me a link and I saw thetrailer I instantly knew I couldn't just let it go. It was way too important. I contacted the director and we were on the same level. To be part of a Cyberpunk movie with retro wave music is like a dream comes true.
My heart beats for Cyberpunk. It's a genre I dedicated my life to for almost 15 years. In 1990 I heard about the role playing game Cyberpunk 2020 from R. Talsorian Games. I grabbed the game when it came out and I remembering playing this game day and night through my years in college with my friends". Cyberpunk was not just a game. It became more of a lifestyle. I've always loved Body and Synth music such as Front 242, Frontline Assembly, Skinny Puppy but also Billy Idol and KMFDM. That kind of music combined with the game was a perfect blend.
Recently Jonas Wolcher has been involved in several projects and helped other independent film makers to fulfill their dreams of distribution and finding platforms for screening.
Jonas explains:
"I've always love the genre of low budget film making. Every time you are making a movie you have to be very creative and inventive. When you are working on a production with a proper budget it's more like a huge machinery and you are just one off the cogs. The last 2 years I've made it possible for several directors to get their movie onto various platforms and distributions channels.
Jonas continues:
"It's not often a project like "Attack Of The Cyber Octopuses" emerges from an idea to an actual production. Nicola really has done his homework with cool retro digital effects and stop motion animations. Just check out this poster and of course the trailer with retro cars and 80s like digital animations.
It's amazing what you are able to do with some scrap plastics, a lava lamp and some lights. Nicola proves he's capable of making his dream come true. The high quality miniatures and the stop motion animations gives the movie a retro look and a boost into the right direction actual traditional film making. Today we are completely drowned by CGI monsters, backgrounds, effects and characters who interacts with the real actors. I immediately understood what Nicola wanted to achieve by "Attack Of The Cyber Octopuses". It's a "#toppen means #awesome in English project"
